The Bespoke Process
The Initial Consultation.
The Initial Consultation. When you make a booking, you will be invited to my Studio in Kesgrave for a free consultation where you will get to know more about how I design and make dresses. It is also a chance for me to get to personally know all about you and what inspires you! There will be no obligation to commission me, but if you feel like you want to be a part of the unique design experience, then you will be booked in for a design consultation. The Inital and Design Consultation may be integrated into a double appointment depending on complexitiy and time scale of the design.
The Design Consultation
The design consultation will involve looking at all your favourite images and inspirations in detail, to then formulate draft sketches and compiling fabric samples to envision your dream dress. We will collaborate until we find that design and concept that is perfect for you! Everything that has been discussed for your design to be shown in the design proposal or final sketch.
The Design Proposal
The finalised design with inspirations and imagery will be compiled together, and a final sketch will be presented to you in the form of a design proposal, along with a time scale and final costings. You will then have all the information you need to decide on going ahead with your custom-made, Sabrina de Carvalho dress.
Contracts, Deposits and Measurement Appointment
Congratulations! You have now decided to become part of the bespoke dressmaking experience. You will need to have signed the contract and agreed to the design specifications, and 40% of your dress will need paying for in order to purchase all the necessary materials. Of course, if there are any details that we need to alter or perfect, then it would be best to let me know within 7 days of the order, before I begin to draft the pattern. Whilst the details are being finetuned, you will need to book in for a measurements appointment, so that I can create a pattern to your exact measurements.
Once the details are worked out, I will start work on your bespoke made dress from your measurements. I will make the basic shape of the dress, at which point will need to be fitted to you, to ensure the quality is bride worthy! When we have made the dress fit you perfectly, we can discuss any changes or additions, continuously improving upon the original design ideas. When you are happy about the direction in which the dress is heading, we may have a few more fittings until the dress is a completed masterpiece, ready for you to wear on your big day!
Once your dress is made, it will be steamed and put into a white garment bag for final collection. We will go through all the final pieces of paperwork, and if you are happy to, have a fun little photoshoot! (Don’t worry, I won’t reveal any pictures until after the big day). Then you are free to leave the dress in our safe place until the big day, or take it home with you to admire when your fiancé isn’t around.
